Its no surprise that as a farmer, midwife and seeker of all things good and earthy, Mónica found her way to essential oils. She has enjoyed essential oils for many years and loved them so much she became a doTERRA Wellness Advocate. Essential oils can be a great addition to any wellness toolkit. Here are a few tips for pregnancy, birth & postpartum: 

For most people, many essential oils are an appropriate and

safe option, consult your medical provider to make sure essential oils are safe for you.  

Pregnancy 

+  Nausea: *Peppermint, Ginger & Lemon (diffuse into the air

    or inhale from bottle or dilute Peppermint or Ginger as

    recommended and apply 1-3 drops on ears, down jaw

    bone, and on reflex points on feet)

+  Sleep Support: Lavender, Roman Chamomile (add several

    drops to a spray bottle of distilled water and spray on        

    pillow and bed linens)

+  Constipation: Digestive Blend, Ginger or Fennel (1-2

    drops to 1 Tbs of carrier oil & message on abdomen)

*Avoid during lactation

Labor/Birth

+  Calming and Stimulate Circulation: Lavender, *Clary Sage

     or Grounding Blend (dilute as recommended & apply 1-2

     drops on hips, bottoms of feet or abdomen)

+  Perineal Support: Geranium (5-10 drops to 1/2 tsp olive oil

    & message)

+  Uterine Toner: *Clary Sage (1-3 drops around ankles)

+  Transition: Basil (dilute as recommended, apply 1-2

    drops to temples or abdomen)

+  Energy: Combine 2 drops Roman Chamomile, 2 drops

    Geranium & 2 drops lavander to 2 tsp carrier oil & message

    into skin.

*Avoid in pregnancy

Postpartum

+  Lactation Support: Fennel or Basil to support production    

     (dilute as recommended & apply 1-2 drops to breasts, limit

     fennel to 10 days as it will cause excess of flow through

     urinary tract) Peppermint to decrease production (dilute as      recommended & apply with cold compress to suppress

     production)

+  Mood Support:  Lemon, Lavender, Joyful blend

     or Grounding Blend Geranium (diffuse in air, inhale directly

     from bottle or dilute as recommended & apply 1 to 2

     drops to temple or forehead)
